
Calas Vegas Carnival Band has emerged as the overall winner of Carnival Calabar 2025, securing a third consecutive victory and reinforcing its growing dominance at Africa’s biggest street party.
The band clinched the top position after delivering a commanding performance themed “Traces of Time,” a presentation praised by judges for its creativity, storytelling, choreography, and exceptional costumes. The victory extends Calas Vegas’ winning streak, which began in 2023, barely two years after the band was introduced into the carnival competition.
Led by former Minister of Tourism and Culture, Chief Edem Duke, Calas Vegas has rapidly evolved into one of the most formidable bands in the history of Carnival Calabar. Its consistent wins and innovative approach have set a new competitive benchmark within the carnival ecosystem.
Seagull Band finished in second place, impressing spectators with a colourful and energetic display. Passion 4 Band, one of the most decorated bands in Carnival Calabar history, secured third position, reaffirming its enduring relevance on the carnival stage.
Freedom Band placed fourth, followed by Masta Blasta Band in fifth place. Diamond Band finished sixth, while Bayside Band came seventh and last in the final rankings of the 2025 main carnival competition.
The 2025 edition of Carnival Calabar recorded massive attendance, heightened creativity, and intense competition among participating bands. Organisers described the event as a major cultural success, further strengthening Calabar’s reputation as Nigeria’s carnival capital and a key tourism destination.
With back-to-back victories now secured, Calas Vegas Carnival Band enters the conversation as a modern carnival dynasty. Attention has already shifted to Carnival Calabar 2026, where expectations are expected to rise significantly.
